v1.8.1

September 3, 2026
  • Fixed the install that left the wheel working and every tool dead. When an administrator typed credentials to install RadialFX for someone else, the settings panel landed in the administrator's Windows profile instead of yours, so the wheel drew and every tool failed with a script error. Setup now installs the panel into the profile of whoever is actually signed in.
  • Added a “Repair RadialFX panel” entry to the Start Menu. If the panel ever goes missing it puts it back, with no reinstall. Double-click the installer to run it, and do not right-click and Run as administrator, which is the launch that causes the problem in the first place.
  • RadialFX no longer needs the Visual C++ redistributable. On a machine without it, After Effects used to load nothing at all: no wheel, no menu item, and no error explaining why.
  • Added an analytics opt-out to the Settings panel, ticked by default. Clear it and the plug-in stops sending anything at all. The privacy policy sets out exactly what the two messages contain.
  • The shape tool now reads Rectangle everywhere. The wheel said Shape while the settings tool pool said Rectangle for the same tool. Saved wheels are migrated, so nothing you arranged moves.
  • Fixed a set of smaller defects found on a clean test machine, including an analytics opt-out that only worked in one direction until you restarted After Effects.

v1.7.0

August 19, 2026
  • 13 new tools. Keyframes — Hold, Hold In, Hold Out, Ease In, Ease Out, Rove. Markers — Add Marker, Clear All, Lock. Reveal — In Project, In Explorer, Keyframes (the U shortcut), Modified (UU).
  • Pick which categories sit on your wheel. There are ten categories now, and every segment except the locked Anchor can be swapped to any of them — open Settings, click “Change category” on a segment and choose.
  • Fixed: the Shape tool built an empty layer with no shape inside it. It now draws a real rectangle, and Ellipse, Polygon and Star joined it as separate tools. Wheels that already carry the Shape tool are fixed automatically — nothing to re-add.
  • Fixed: new layers are named properly. Solids were all called “Solid Layer”, which made them impossible to tell apart in the project panel; nulls, shapes, adjustment layers and lights now number themselves the way After Effects does.
  • Every tool now explains itself when it can't run — no more silent nothing-happened when a layer is locked, has no keyframes, or the footage is offline.
  • Heads up: new tools never move onto your wheel by themselves, because that would mean discarding your saved layout. Add the ones you want from Settings → the segment you want them on → Add tool.

v1.6.10

August 3, 2026
  • Fixed: the installer now finds After Effects on any drive. If your Adobe folder wasn't on C:, the wheel component was never installed — the Settings panel still opened, which made it look like the wheel itself was broken. Re-run the new installer and the wheel appears.
  • The installer now tells you when it couldn't replace the plugin because After Effects was still running, instead of reporting success. The uninstaller does the same.
